When installing the CPU how do you know when it’s in place and secure? Does it click or clip into place or something? Because I was practicing with an old motherboard because I’m doing my first PC build and I wasn’t sure about the CPU being in place.

on an amd board you have a little lever on the side of the chip socket that flips down to lock the chip in place ;) not sure about intel chips tbh

Modern Chips are zero insertion force which means you check it's the correct way around by lining up the two notches on the CPU (im on about Intel by the way) and then simply set it into the socket, close the load plate and secure the lever latch in place.

Oh my bad LOL. But yeah Haven't built yet. LOL

I was worryed that I'd do it wrong LOL. because with the old motherboard I tried with i put the CPU in and then pushed down the clip and it still fell out LOL.
