Installing creative drivers

I have bought a new x-fi creative sound card. I was wondering do you have to install the cd first, and then install the latest drivers from creative.com, or can you just run the latter straight away?

Install from cd first. Do a custom install and select what you need. Dont forget to tick 'Volume Control'

It doesn't strictly matter though.

I installed the drivers firdt (the newest ones on the Creative page, not the ones on the disc). The only things I bothered installing from the CD are the Entertainment/Game/Audio Creation mode console, THX thingy and Volume panel.

I thought Creative only done upgrade drivers on their website? So you have to install the drivers on CD and then the Creative website supply updates for it (you can't install updates without base drivers?) :eek:

That used to be the way, but the X-Fi ones are completely standalone.

pretty much all the latest creative drivers are standalone. just come with audio console which is a basic method of setting all the card options.
