Installing Creative Sound Blaster Audigy

okay so i just brought a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy from an amazon seller
put it into the PCI port and rebooted computer and nothing happened, no new hardware detected or anything

tried to install the drivers that came with the card and they it told me the card is not installed and to rerun the setup when i've installed it

wiggled the card around a bit and securely screwed it into the case but still no joy

had a look at guides on installing cards and many of them mention connecting cables from the cdrom drive to the card

also on the card there are 2 slots that look like wires should be attached to them:

(the little black port that has "aux in" next to it and the white rectangle that has "Sound Blaster" above it(both on the top right hand side))

do i need more cables or is my card just broken?

They only need a power lead if you have an external breakout box.

@ the OP :

Make sure you have dsabled onboard sound and uninstalled the drivers
Try another PCI slot
If possible test the card in another machine

Oh, and remove the competitor link ;)

disabled the onboard sound and uninstalled the drivers, put it into the other PCI slot and still no joy
no other machine to test it in..
time to send it back?
