I wanted to make a post about how I've managed to do this, in order to hopefully help anyone who has to search around the internet for information, as I have done for a week or so, trying to get this card installed on Windows 98.
First off, I'm using an MSI K7N2 motherboard (nForce2 chipset) with Windows 98SE. I bought the Live card from ebay and it was brand new, but the OEM type, which have a reputation for being difficult, as I found out.
After trying more drivers than I care to remember, recommended on different sites, I found what seemed the answer in this link:
https://rhinobhs.tripod.com/sb0200.html
They were not so easy to use, though. The idea is to run the CTZAPXX.exe to install the drivers - the CTsetup is an uninstaller only.
Trying to use these caused all kinds of error messages, incorrect dialogue boxes and such-like.
The way I got it to work was to extract the SB0200 folder to a temp directory, then open the device manager and click on the unknown audio device and select Properties and on that, "Reinstall Driver".
I then cancelled the auto search and selected to browse - directing it to the folder ....\SB0200\Drivers\WIN2K_XP
Note that last bit in bold - Win2k_XP
It worked great - and then do the same for the Gameport. After that you can use any other ISO or installer for the Creative utilities like AudioHQ or whatever else you want to use on your retro PC.
I hope this info helps someone - I could have done with knowing it a week ago! Thanks to Guest2 for his attempted help in getting this resolved.
