Installing .exe in vista

Whenever I try to run a .exe to install something, such as drivers or small applications i get the error displaying the file path to the .exe and then a message saying directoy name is invalid.

I'm log on as an admin and i've also right clicked and ran as an administrator.

any ideas?

Very odd. Is this is a genuine and unaltered copy of Vista? You haven't run it through anything like "vLite" have you?

Yeah as genuine as they come, installed off the dvd and not altered.

Is UAC on or off?

its on but doesnt come up when i try to run this exe :confused:

I had the same problem once and ended up having to run the exe from a Command Prompt. Might be worth a try. Click start then enter cmd into the search. Open up a command prompt and change to the folder where the exe is located. Type the name of the exe & press enter. With UAC on you may need to run cmd as administrator.

You could also try turning UAC off and then see if the exe will run.

Only happened to me with one particular exe file. All other exe files run fine by double clicking. I do have UAC off though.
