I have a relatively new PC which I am more than happy with for now, but I may also want to invest in a gaming laptop at some point in the next year. i do have a question though which may seem obvious but ive never thought about it! would I be able to install my games on both my desktop and laptop? If I can would I just be able to transfer my save games using a floppy and copying the save files between systems?

yeah you can install games on boths systems but games which uses steam will only let you play games on one computer at a time.
There maybe a conflict if you use games for internet usage on both computers even if there not on at the same time.

as for the saved games. its not same with all games but if you look through the games folder in the games directory in the hard drive im sure there will be a folder named SAVE or something obvious. try copying that in to the same directory on new PC when you get it.

corrections will be needed on this post :D

As said, you can install on both, and with some games transfer saves.

However, you wont be able to play online, or on LAN with the same CD key often at the same time.

You can often have the games installed on either, and play online with either.

You'll usually get kicked off of one when you login with another, or just not be alowed to log in on the second.
