Sorry if the title's not accurate.. I'm trying to install my new IDE hard drive, but my original one is on a SATA connection. I've set the new one as master and my DVD drive as slave, hoping that would fix it but the new drive still isn't showing up in my computer.. I had to make my PC boot from my original drive at start-up because otherwise it wouldn't boot properly... What I want to know is whether it's actually possible to do what I'm trying to do, and I can do it.

Could you post full PC specs :)

One thing to check is pop into Disk Manager and see if your drive is being shown there.

Have you set the jumper on the IDE drive to master? Have you formatted and installed Windows on the drive then if you're trying to boot from it?
