hi all,

I have Windows XP Pro - Service pack 2. And I am looking to install IIS via add/remove programs. However it asks me to insert my XP SP 2 CD.

I once did have this CD but it is now so scratched that it no longer works. I have downloaded the 266mb XP SP2 file from MS website but i guess is not the same. Any ways around it?

Thanks in advance

Don't think this is possible, with IIS only being available in Pro they sensibly require you to have an Pro disk.
There is a hack to get IIS on XP home but it requires a windows 2000 server disk I think.
Think you might have to borrow a cd from a friend, ask microsoft for a replacement, buy a new one or warez a copy (not sure if it is legal or allowed forum talk though)

i have Windows XP Pro - legit version.

i just dont have the Service Pack 2 disc, which is free to download and used to be free to pick up at PC World/Dixons but i doubt they stock them any more.

I am pretty sure it was asking for the SP2 disc but i will double check again (it was very late last night i decided to try it lol)

[edit]

Just tried it and it asks for the SP2 disc which i dont have :( /cry

thanks for the tip. I was pasted this link a lil while ago but never got around to doing anything. I guess time to put some effort dig out sata drivers etc too.

ok it is Thursday and I should have woken up by now but in our huge piles of CDs on our desks there was a Windows XP Pro with SP2 CD installation CD. What is worse is that it was top of one of the piles... How embarrassing LOL!

/holds head in shame

thanks for the replies folks
