I use QuickTime Alternative on my system and with the previous iTunes 6 install you could just remove the QuickTime installer and run the iTunes setup without it.

The 7.01 iTunes installer won't install without QuickTime (tried replacing the *.msi file with the latest QuickTime Alternative file but it still refuses).

Is there anyway to install iTunes 7.01 without QuickTime 7?

Please keep this on topic and don't just post "use XXX" :)

I always used to unpack the iTunes.exe with WinRar. Then navigate into the resulting folder, find the Quicktime .msi or whatever and delete. I'd then run the setup or install.exe that was in the iTunes folder. This would run the iTunes installer and when it came to the Quicktime part of the process I'd get an error message but I could just click OK and carry on.

Perhaps Apple have found out about this and stopped it?

*Edit* Just checked my iTunes 7.01 exe. I unpacked it with WinRar although 7Zip should also work. There are then 4 files that are unpacked. Just delete the Quicktime one and try running the iTunes file. It should work.

Posted this from my brother's pc upstairs.

First thing I did when I downloaded iTunes 7.01 was to extract and delete the QuickTime installer (in first post ;) :D).

The iTunes installer refuses to install.

I wasn't sure.:p In that case I can't see how to do this. I like Apple's design philosophy in terms of the MacBooks and iPods but why do they have to bundle one software installer with another of theirs?!
