Installing Laptop Graphics Drivers?

Now im a bit concerned about doing this, ive got a dedicated card (Nvidia 9600M GT 1Gb) and have found the relevant drivers from the website - however ive read that I should only ever install those from the laptop manufacturers site.... that being Acer and their latest drivers on there are those that are installed already...

So my questions:

1 - Can I install those from Nvidia or should I wait for Acer to update their site?

2 - How do I install laptop graphic card drivers... via the update option and then find the file, or do I uninstall the drivers/card... reboot and when its back on install the downloaded file?

Use the latest ones from Nvidia, there's no need to go through Acer's website.

Download and install, dead simple ;)
 
I was gonna do the "you found mobile drivers on nvidia's site...are you sure?" routine but I just had a look - you're right! My god! However watch out Dell users as there's a caveat for us.
