Use the 4 pin power connector, 8 just helps with stability when overclocking & quad cores cpu's.

What psu are you using :)

psu is an enermax eg495ax (485W, 2x 18A rails.)

got it all up and running now. put win 7 rc1 on it and running prime95 for a bit.

bought an overclocked bundled.

I checked the bios out, and cpu voltage seemed a bit high at 1.47.

Ram was a bit funny setup also - ram is corsair dominator 1600, rated at 9-9-9-24, but it was running at 1333mhz 9-9-9-27.

It is better to use 8-pin power for higher stability, and for the PSU, what else do you have, i.e how many HDDs and which graphics card?

new gfx hasnt arrived yet - ordered a 4770 for low power consumption. It's running at 7800gt atm.

Only using one hdd - 500gb wd cav. black.
