installing mouse on windows vista

hi there, i just got steelseries xai and plugged it into my laptop. its not responding at all when i press a button or move it. i went to device manager and found that the drivers wont installed properly i try to reinstall but keep on getting error. is this a faulty mouse or is it due to windows vista? does anyone know how i can install drivers manually?
 
the xai has no drivers, it is supposed to be driverless. when u plug it in, windows should install it itself.in my case it does not install, it says an error occurs while trying to.
 
i just plugged my deathadder straight into my machine with vista and it worked straight off, can you try the mouse on another system ?
also have you got your laptop plugged into the mains because i think certain laptops dont supply full power to the usb ports when the machine is running from the battery so maybe it isn't giving your mouse enough juice ?

its on mains, there is no pc around, later ill try with my brothers laptop but if i still get the same problem isnt there anything i can do ?
