Installing my first hdd tonight..

Hey,
So will be installing my new Samsung 840 tonight and have a few questions..

First off, I want to install a fresh copy of my windows 7 that I currently have on my mechanical hdd. It is an oem copy so am I able to do this and activate it then just wipe my old drive ? Or am I going to run into activation issues ?

Also, I'm aware I should set to ahci in the bios, should I do this just before booting up with the cd to install on the ssd ? Will my old hdd still work on this setting as a storage drive ?

Thanks guys sorry for all the questions but couldn't find what I was after in my lunch break today and really want to get this installed tonight to experience the speed! Haha

it's fine what you intend do. you can re-install OEM windows as many times as you like. you can change whatever hardware you like except the mobo.

IF you run into issues, a quick call to MS on the phone will sort it. i think it's an automated system.

set AHCI mode in your bios and i'd unplug the old drive before installing windows. connect it back up when done and you should be fine.
