Hey guys

Got a bit of a problem, built a machine for my dad not long ago with Vista Home Premium x64

First day we got it up and running we noticed after we installed the Creative X-Fi drivers, when we restarted it came up with a message saying it found new hardware, and was installing drivers. Well thing is it said this for 10 minutes, we opened the window and it had installed them 20 times and was still going.

We restarted and reinstalled the ones off the Creative site and all was fine.

Anyway its just done this again today but this time when my dad uninstalled the creative drivers, it just locks up the machine everytime he restarts. He looked under Device Manager quickly and there were about 30 instances of Creative X-Fi SB, only one of which didnt have the yellow exclamation mark. When he tried uninstalling one of them he blue screen and restarted.

I'm back in Swansea now so unable to help in person but wondered if anyone knew any fixed on how to sort the problem

And how if when we do sort it, to stop it installing these drivers over and over and over

Cheers in advance

Forgot to mention, I'm running Vista x64 Home Premium too with an X-Fi Fatality also but never encountered this problem

tell him its like lego, but more expensive :p

-edit, before doing that, try getting this moved to the sound forum, might be a common xfi problem (dodgy card etc?)

mine's always been fine, but its worth a shot :)

He's just moved it to a different slot and it seems to have fixed it, nice one thanks for that

Any ideas why that would make a difference
