So just bought an adapter to connect my 2.5" IDE drive to my main pc. I plug it in, and its not found in the bios :(. Is it a problem that i have a SATA boot drive? How can i go about finding it?

Thanks :)

How is it connected to your pc, USB?

Can you see it once booted into windows or whatever operating system you're using?

its connected with a 2.5 to 3.5" IDE adapter into the mobo, the adapter has a 1 etched on one end and this end is the same as pin number one on the hdd, the jumpers at the end however i dont know what to do with...

its an old fujitsu and doesnt appear to spin :(

its the only boot device plugged in now. no satas plugged it, still not found in bios

If both ends of the cable are plugged in correctly and you have the power cable plugged in, then its most likely a faulty hard drive, although some of these adapters are not made very well and the power connection is a bit dodgey sometimes.

depends if u got info on it that u want?

a few years ago i tried to use my hdd out of my dead laptop as a boot drive but my pc (a skt 939 with ddr :P) wouldn't let me boot from it. i just went into windows, got all the info i wanted and used it as a drinks coaster :P

maybe the connections are not as tight as you think? tried a different power connector from the psu?

well i used a different power connector... it worked for about half an hour but half the data was corrupted in some way, couldnt open half of it :( got what i could and was just checking through photos hen it stopped working completely, was still spinning but windows couldnt "see" it, drinks coaster it is :p
