going to be installing a ninja today on my X2 4400 and just wondering will i have to remove any of that silver stuff that was on the previous fan that came with the 4400? If so how

If you mean thermal paste, then yes, you need to wipe it off the CPU using some tissue or paper towel,
when you install the ninja put a small blob about the size of a grain of rice onto the top of your freshly wiped cpu then put the heatsink on

Just a quick tip:
Install two diagonal clips at the same time first, then the other two. Its a lot easier to have someone holding the top of it flat while you clip it on. Don't rock it about like i did and mess up your thermal paste.
You should use a drop of meths on a tissue or something to give the cpu a really good clean aswell.
