Installing over previous drivers?

Is it ok when you come to upgrade drivers, to install over the old ones without getting rid of the previous ones first? Used to do this with ATI drivers is it the same with Nvidia?
 
It will be work but it's best if you just completely wipe off the old drivers first using DriverSweeper or another utility program just to ensure the new driver is installed correctly and doesn't cause any conflicts with older files on your system.
