Hey, I have just got my new asus p5q and tbh i'm a bit of noob when it comes to stuff like this, So baisically do i just install it and turn it on or will i have to adjust anything in the bios or windows to get it to work?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but i dont have a clue :p

Also would i need to re-install windows? if so how would i do it as it was already inststalled on the hdd when i got it so i dont have the cd.

Is the motherboard like for like or have you upgraded the motherboard!

If your windows version is OEM this is tied to the board it was originaly activated on and a new License is required.

If you have done a full upgrade then I personaly recommend doing a re-install, but as you don't have the disc thats going to be tricky, alternate can you not go the manufacturer of the system and ask them to send you one.

Ok, i have just looked and my OS is OEM :(

So does that mean i have to buy a whole new copy of vista or xp or is there anther way around it?

Thanks

Don't think you can use OEM disc unless your old motherboard is P5Q also? Even then don't think you can.
