Hi Guys,

I'm new to PC gaming and have just bought shogun 2 via Amazon (steam was way more expensive). So I've chucked in the first disc, entered the product key and started to download it. However, I had to stop the download as I was installing it to the wrong drive.

I then had a look in my steam library and it displayed shogun 2 but had a tab to click on to install the game. Although, I thought I would have to install the game off the disc provided. Anyway, I click on the tab and installed it through steam, which was also a smaller file size??.
But then I thought, what is the point in the discs as I'm now just using steam to download the game? When don't Amazon just send me a product key and let me download it via steam?

Some games that use steam let you download as well as using the CD to install the game:

There's a different store on Amazon for online downloads, what you got was the retail copy they sell in stores.

I used to do that back when my internet was pretty slow, took forever to download big games.
