Hi guys,

I'm trying to think of a way round a little problem I have...

At work I manage a small network and we have recently purchased a Driving Test DVD with all the tests/theory etc. I'd like this be accessed by users on the network simultaneously but the disk is required to be in the client optical drive for an integrity check upon start up. I've tried making backups of the disk but they're detected as non-original :(

Ideally I'd like to be able to install the software centrally on the server and have the client machines access it from there, also it would mean I wouldn't have to worry about leaving duplicate disks in drives.

Any ideas if this is possible? If it isn't has anyone else got any ideas :)

Package it up using 7zip ;) as a self extracted exe and deploy it via GP.

EDIT: Just read you require the CD to be in the drive.... gosh I hate this type of software. There might be a patch available or contact the company to see if there is a solution.

It might not even be legal, you will have to find out first.

I think the only legal way (and one I have used before) is to run a Remote Desktop (Terminal) Server on which the software and DVD are installed. The users then connect to the RDS server to run the software as a remote application. You would still need to check the terms of your licence agreement though regarding concurrent / multi-user usage.

However the cost of implementing this may be more than the cost of buying a few more copies of the DVD...

Thanks for the replies guy!

Yeah, fair do's if this is against the rules... I can see you point.

May have to invest in so more copies of the disk then :)

Just a bit risky leaving them in client machines, always the possibility they'll go walkies!
