Hey dudes,

I'm a complete novice when it comes to DIY, and I mean that.
I've just purchased a hammer drill in order to install some shelves in my bedroom, which will become a bookcase. I'm just wondering what type of fittings i'll need? http://www.bigdug.co.uk/shelving-c2...slot-wall-mounted-shelving-components-pp14314 These are the brackets i'm planning on using, but what type of rawl plugs/screws do I need, my walls are really crumbly plaster on brick; I previously installed a can crusher in the kitchen and the walls were so crumbly when I used it I ripped the entire thing off of the wall (although that was probably my fault). The shelves will be roughly 84inches long and supported by 4 uprights.

Thanks in advance :)

Plaster doesn't matter, it's not load bearing.
If you have weak bricks then the rawlplug needs to be positioned in the centre of the brick, so you'll need something like a 75mm screw.

Use a nice grippy plug

edit: go with Nightglow's suggestion, I didn't notice those :)

don't forget to screw the support to the shelf

I think you might be better off building a set of free standing shelves and securing them to the wall. Or buy a half decent second hand set.
I've bought that twin slot shelving from screwfix before and it's pretty good I just upped the number of vertical strips to increase it's load bearing potential but still wouldn't rate it as highly as a good wooden freestanding shelf rack.
