So we have a (4-5ish year old) dell xps desktop that has windows vista.
I have booted it up and vista works fine but I want ubuntu 13 on it.
Therefore I downloaded the iso, wrote it to a usb and tried to boot with it. However after you choose usb boot and it starts the process it hangs on the purple ubuntu screen (with the dot progress bar) and never gets to the screen where it asks you how you want to install it.
The weird thing is that the usb works fine when I plug it into both my laptop and other desktop and gets to the installation screen just fine. Therefore it must be something with the xps. Any ideas? Windows works fine so its all plugged in correctly and working.
