Installing Vista TO a USB Drive

Performance shouldn't be an issue depending on how the network streaming is handled. We'll see!

Hi mate, I've just tried this and it works nicely but from the link you originally posted what is this section? I've navigated to the reg key but whats the tag bit on about?

start-> run regedit (in the search box unlike XP) goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\
Now edit tags
start = 0
Group = boot bus extender

on all these servies
usbccgp
usbehci
usbhub
usbstor
usbuhci

Just a thought.... could you build Vista on a normal disk and image it, then image it back to the USB stick??

Never tried it so not sure if that would work.

It'll perform so slowly on a USB drive.

Why not get a solid state drive, or as bledd. has suggested, try a SATA Laptop drive?
