I'm looking to develop ASP.NET 2.0 stuff off my XP Pro Machine. Anyone had any problems or pitfalls with this as it's a bigish dl & installation and I don't want to go through the hassle of setting it all up if it's gonna cause problems when I could just use DW?

I haven't got IIS running on this machine and while I intend to use a remote host for sites, I used to find when I started with old ASP on my NT4 machine it was great to test locally. Especially as I seem to have to ask the host to enable me to folders to be written to from the ASP.net!

Will I have to start logging in to the machine?

vwd2005 comes with a mini webserver, which you can setup to use random ports, so you don't have to install IIS at all. However once you get started I recommend you move to IIS, as this will reduce problems when it comes to deployment for the final enviroment.

I develop both 1.1 and 2.0 (both 64-bit) on the same pc with out any issues, so it seems to fairly robust.

If your unsure why not use vmware (they have a free beta program atm), so you can keep everything isolated.
