I'm thinking of upgrading my SSD to something larger. However I'm not sure how I will get W10 installed. Currently I have W10 on my 128GB SSD which was part of the free upgrade from W7. Is there any way I can install W10 on a new HD without having to buy it? I've heard about people cloning drives, is this my best option?

Take the opportunity to do a clean install. Don't change any hardware other than the SSD. Windows 10 will automatically activate itself because you're using the same PC.

funny i'm looking into exactly this atm, if you have your windows activation linked to your microsoft account, it seems then you can re-activate no problems when doing a fresh install.

although i'd be interested to know if you can install it on one pc, then move the drive into the pc it should be in then activate after (some so and so locked the bios on this laptop  )
