I want to install an SSD in non-RAID as the bootable and two HDDs in RAID 1. I have unplugged the HDDs, switched the SATA mode to RAID in the BIOS, then I have begun a normal windows installation.

However, when I got to the stage where you pick the drives- no drives are showing and its offering me the chance to insert a CD/floppy to load a driver. I thought may be my motherboard (P9X79) CD may contain one, inserted it and pressed OK but nothing showed.

I'm a little lost how to proceed?

Get them from there.

Depends if you using Intel or Asmedia ports.

Download them all and stick them on a keyfob if unsure.

When the browser window opens up during windows 7 installation just try each downloaded folder inturn till it works.
Ok I did this- it showed me the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver. I unzipped these on to a USD drive.

When installing windows and it said no drives had been found (except for my USB drive) I navigated to the folder but Windows was saying none of the drivers were appropriate for my motherboard. If I unticked the "hide all incompatible drivers" box it then showed approximately 12 Intel drivers. Two of these were RAID (one was server/desktop and another mobile). I tried installing both but neither worked- the windows installer didnt accept them.

Please help?

I'm lost, why do you need to install raid drivers for a raid array that is not a boot device ? If you have installed windows on one SSD and a raid array on another 2 then isnt it a matter of ensuring you are not booting from that array ?
