installing windows 8 pro as an upgrade-pls help

Hi,
My version of Windows 8 pro came today. I want to install it as an upgrade over windows 7 and keep all my files and stuff.

To install windows 8 as a upgrade can I do it within windows 7. i.e boot into windows 7 and put the windows 8 cd.

is this right?

Yes, you have to load windows 7 then insert the disk, it should auto start if not just double click on the dvd, follow the instructions, one of the options is to keep all applications, files and settings.

I did it at work and was a very smooth upgrade.
