Installing Windows 98se

Right, im installing 98 on a system but when i go to install the OS i get this:

"largest executable program space minimum xxx,xxx,xx bytes"

Im typing D:\setup if that helps...

I have partitioned the disk and formatted it and i still get this message

so can anyone help??? PLZ PLZ PLZ :(

o and i have tried microsofts technique.... scandisk c: and that No swearing, Big Kev!

have you tryed booting from the cd?

its telling you that you need to have a memory manager installed and the minimum executable program size is too small.(amaout of useable base memory)

goto www.bootdisk.com and download the windows 98 boot floppy and boot with cdrom support. and bobs your aunties uncles brother :)
 
Yep sounds suspiciously like you are trying to install from within windows or from a bootdisk not configured for enough free conventional memory.

Piece of advice: make sure you load SMARTDRV.EXE before running the setup too, to speed up file copying under DOS.
