I am building a new PC and I want to install a legit version of windows 10 however it's on disc and I have no real need for an optical drive and the case I'm looking at doesn't even accommodate optical drives.

I have a USB blu ray writer (external) which I could plug in but I'm pretty sure it requires drivers to work as I bought it for use with laptop.

How do I install windows 10 without an optical drive? I know I can download some sort of file onto a USB but is it a easy process?

Power down the PC, plug the USB BD drive, then boot to BIOS. If the boot manager can see the USB BD drive then you're fine and Windows should install without issues.

Alternatively, the official Windows 10 tool helps create a bootable USB drive: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Just make sure the drive is empty as it will overwrite anything on it.

Yeah I was thinking I would plug it in and see if BIOS recognises it but I needed a backup plan. Thanks for the link to the tool. Should be all good to go when the system is built.
