My girlfriend has an EeePC netbook with Windows XP, which is about 4 years old now. It's running fine, but over the years has become slower and slower. I wanted to do clean install Windows XP, but the laptop lacks a CD-Rom drive. We don't have a Windows XP disc either, so was wondering if I could create a windows installation file(s) so that I could run the installation from USB. Is there a program where I can do this (i.e. extracts the necessary files for a Windows installation from the Local Disk so that when I boot off the USB it goes into the Windows installation menu)? I may well just be fantasizing...
I have Windows 7 on disc (came with my desktop), but I'm not sure I can install Windows 7 onto the netbook (firstly because of probable invalid registration, secondly because of the netbook's spec).
Any help with these questions would be most welcomed.
