Hey guys just have a little problem installing XP.

I have 2 Hard Drives both are formmatted, so i insert the windows XP Cd, press any key to boot from the cd then i create a partion and format the disk, that goes ok, then i get to the bit where i have to accept the license aggreement and enter my name i do that and then about 2 minutes later it comes up with a error, a certain file is missing i retry but still no luck, so i clikc cancel and it comes up with another error and another and another. Not sure why its a offical Windows Disc.

Any help is aprreciated, thanks.

May be faulty memory....I have had this on an install as i believe the install uses as much memory as it can and a memory error (especially in a higher address on the stick) can cause the file copying to corrupt...worth trying to run a memory test util on a boot disk/cd

good luck

I agree it sounds like a scratched disc if Vista installs on the same PC thus eliminating the RAM theory. Have you got another PC or access to another PC so you can try to use the XP cd on that?
