Hey peeps,
does anyone know of a way i can dual boot vista and xp but by installing xp 2nd?

There is currently no other way i can do it because i only have pre-installed vista on my laptop and can only install it as a restore...

i have tried installing xp normally but then it just doesnt let vista run any more... is there a way to do this or am i doomed here?

many thanks,

Soogs

thanks but no good.

maybe i didnt explain properly. i dont have a vista install disk. i bought a sony n38 when they were goin cheap so i didnt get any disks with the package... only the hdd install files.

thanks though mate :)

No idea if it would work but, you could try creating an image of the vista partition with something like acronis disk director, install xp, then install the image afterwards.

Then see what happens when you boot - if you can get to an os then install Vista Boot Pro to sort out any problems with booting into either os.

Still no idea whether this would work though  Good luck!

Oh :(

Can't borrow a copy from a friend? But you need to have your own copy in case of anything. Can't Sony send you one?

i dont think i know anyone who has vista.
i will email sony at some point to get the disks i hope

eXor: they are on the same physical disk but on seperate partitions so thats not the problem.

i can aquire vista ultimate just to use the repair tool but will it work with the pro version of vista?

thanks again
