Installing XP- Drive Letter question

Wasn't sure if I should put this here or in Hard Drives

I have two physical HDD, both are partitioned in two.

So I have:
HDD1 - C: and D:

HDD2- E: and F:

However, when I reinstall Windows I have to use PartitionMagic or somesuch.

Windows, by default, names the Primary Partition on both disks C and D, then secondaries E and F so I end up with:

C:
E:
D:
F:

Is there any particular reason for this?
Is there any way to avoid it?

Well, just change them in Windows Disk Management

(Right click on My Computer > Manage > Disk Management)

Disconnect the other drive when you install windows. Then plug it in after. There are ways of moving the drive letters around, but its not recommended to change the way windows set them up.
