Help.

XP cd must have a tiny scratch on - can't install it from the CD
It DOES however copy to hard drive in windows with a bit of help

So how do i install using the files i have on my d:\ (that's the drive i want to install to anyway)

All i want to do is get into DOS to run winnt.exe

But every boot disk i've tried, it doesn't read ntfs drives or some other rubbish reason

help please

use unstoppable copier (and enable logging) to copy from your cd drive to C:\XPCD

(the log file will say if there's any failed copied files), if any fail, then ask me for the files you need..

then use nlite to create a new xp disc (will be bootable)

-or create a fat32 partition and run winnt.exe from there (personally i'd just re-make the disc)

thanks chief - got files off onto D:\, but everytime i run nlite, it comes up with encountered an error jobby :(

worst comes to worst, you can always just torrent a copy of XP from one of those illegal sites...

I'd seriously not download a copy, its a great way for someone to distribue a pre-packaged set of malware - I have to admit if there was no other option id probably part with my £15 to MS...

Have you read the FAQ lately?

Burnsy

it says

Providing or asking for information regarding "warez", "gamez" or any other software protected by copyright is forbidden. This includes discussion of 'chipped' or modified games consoles.

and i dont think Aod's post breaks that rule as he is not providing any information about it. Just saying you could do it.

why dont u just make a back up copy of the windows cd ? using nero or some other software
u say it can read the contents on the cd.
