OK so i've got an AAO that currently has Linux on. I'm trying to install XP on there instead, and have an XP .iso on a flash drive connected to the AAO. Thing is, i can't change the boot order in the BIOS. I can only manually select the the boot device to be used (the external drive) but then it just boots Linux anyway :S and the boot order doesn't actually change...

No i can't figure out how to do it - at least not using fdisk. The .iso is a full version of XP which i have acquired as i have no clue where my XP cd's are...

Mount the ISO using demon tools then follow the video :)

I am heavily assuming you have another pc to actually do this with. If you are posting from the netbook then you wont be able to do it from the iso on the flash drive alone.

Before you do all that I would highly recommend you find all the XP drivers for the Aspire One. I had such a ballache trying to find them when I did this for a client last year.

Yeah i've got another laptop and a Macbook as well as the AAO :)

I'll check out the video and guide and let you know if i get stuck! Cheers guys.

The YT link helped out a million - cheers. All done and the install is steadily (NTFS...) going through now. Don't know what i was doing wrong before... :S

I just installed xp on one of those for selling to a mate... but i found xp ran like a bag of **** on my aao

http://support.acer.com/ You should find the drivers here if you select your model. This is were I got them from when I done mine.

I had to jump through hoops to find the right drivers. I don't know if the have improved the driver selection, but basically I went through about 3 or 4 different drivers just to find one that worked for the Ethernet! :(

The SSD version is horrific. It's the worst drive around that I've experienced recently by miles. It's almost unusable.

The ones with a hard drive are OK - it's just the SSD which is shockingly bad.
