Hello,

I have done a search but am confused on how to install XP on a Dell Mini 9. I have the 64GB SSD version with 2GB ram which came with ubuntu.

I was wondering how easy it would be to install XP? I already have XP pro retail version that I can use and was wondering if it's just a case of using a external CD drive and install just like on a normal PC.

I know this has been asked many times but I noticed most have traditional hard drives and wondered if SSD would be any different.

Thanks for any advice
Dan

Thanks for your replies :D

To be honest I don't actually have the Mini 9 here at the moment as I am waiting for my order to be updated...I only ordered a few days ago and have only received the initial acknowledgement internet receipt number email. I don't know how long it takes them to update.

Basically I ordered with Ubuntu because it gave me the option of 2GB ram for no extra cost and also gave me the option to add a larger SSD. I only really want to browse the net, listen to music, watch video and access usenet now and then.

All other things like my web stuff will be done on my normal PC because the screen on the netbook will be too small.

I know this can all be done on Ubuntu but the learning curve isn't great for me as I have been used to using XP and Vista now. I guess Linux frightens me :o

Thank for your replies.

After having a look around the net and the fact that Dell are so slow at even taking payment I have cancelled my order and instead ordered a Samsung NC10.

For the same money it has a slightly bigger screen, much better battery life, Windows XP and bluetooth as standard. After reading many reviews it seems that many are very happy with the Samsung and the fact that it has Windows XP means I can use it straight out of the box without worrying about Ubuntu or having to install a new OS.

All your help, has been appreciated.
