had a Galaxy 8800GT for Xmas and a few more upgrades, Intel 2.4 quad, Corsar 2x1Gb, IP35 pro and a 750*** power supply.

I have installed all of these step by step using the manual, and when i turn on the power of te omputer i get a nosie sounding like a mouse coming from the Graphics card, try reconnecting all the wires a few times and still get the same problem, any one got any ideas on what i can do or is the graphics card a Dud one:mad:

You plugged in the PCI-E power connector to the graphics card? As that sound is because the GT aint getting enough power.

ok Thank you thats solved that problem,
on the old motherboard i had 2 IDE connectors, 1 for the CD drive and the other for the hard drive, but the new mother board which i have now Abit IP35 pro only has one IDE connector, am i ok connecting the Hard drive and the DVD drive using the same cable, do i have to make one the master and the other the slave, because its only recognising the Hard drive atm.

Yea most new mobo's only have 1 IDE connector, IDE wont be around much longer I think its all going the way of SATA.

If you connect the DVD drive and HDD to the same cable, then set the DVD Drive as master and HDD as slave, slave is the middle connector on the IDE cable and master is the top connector.

Thank you again

Is it USB? Try going into bios and looking for were it says allow USB Keyboard or something like that.

I'd be making the hdd master and the DVD drive as slave tbh, doesn't matter what way round you connect the cable as the cable doesn't know whats what it's all dependant on what you set the jumpers on the device.

If you were talking about scsi then it would be a different matter, you'd want to be putting the last scsi id in the chain nearest the terminator.

Thanks for eveyones help I then had problems booting up from my original hdd (it was 98 upgraded to xp home). Tried installing 98 on a new 160gb scsi hdd no joy . Then borrowed an original copy of XP home to try , it worked so it was the 98 disk. I've now had to buy a full copy of XP home of my own. Problem solved
