Hi there , my freind recently purcahsed a new graphics card , its a nvidia geforce 9500 or 9800 gtx cant remember the exact model it shows up he has insufficent power going too the card , it has 2 power connections on the card itself , do both power cables need too be connected in order for the card too work , no power adapters were supplied with the card and the psu only has one gfx card power connecter, the pc is displaying artifacts as if it is bad reception on freeview

any advice greatly appreciated

thanks

Yes, both pci-e power connectors must be plugged in to power the card.

I'm afraid your friend will either have to buy a new power supply or send the graphics card back.

edit: or as unworthybean says buy molex - 6/8 pin connectors to power them. :)

yup if the card has 2 power connectors need to connect 2 power connectors. Considering the PSU only has 1 its probably not sufficient. Just to make sure what power supply has he got?
