I have needed to make high resolution scans recently. My HP OfficeJet 8600 Plus printer software crashes saying I have insufficient memory available. I have 8Gb at the moment. Am I likely to be able to make the scans I want if I add another 8Gb. Thanks

have you tried updating the drivers, as I very much doubt thats a system memory issue. It could be an issue with the memory inside the printer.

And you should scan at the optical resolution of the scanner and use a graphics program like photoshop to enlarge if you really need too.

The HP 8600 series are online permanently and stay updated automatically. I don't have to do anything. I did check though and the latest are installed. The feature is there for a reason, but if I use it it fails on lack of memory. I will speak to HP and see what they say.

Only sent one fax using the printer so far. But I have cleared that out. I have a Kodak ESP 9 as well and that is upto date and it too brings me the same message if I try to scan at full rez' :(
