Hello all,

I live in a 1950's built semi-detached house.

It has cavity wall insulation in (bead type cavity insulation), but where my electricity and gas meters are located it becomes single skin/brick and where the cavity ends is essentially open apart from previous owner shoved some insulation in. Problem I have is obviously lack of insulation in that vicinity of where the meters are fixed to the single brick of outer wall (meters are boxed in so to speak in a non insulated cabinet), I was thinking can I remove some of the insulation previous owner shoved into the cavity and use some decent spray foam insulation to make sure it's airtight instead and better insulation. The stuff shoved in is like loft insulation, and doesn't seem to be creating a fully sealed space.

Hope you understand what I'm getting at and trying to achieve.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Yeah get some PIR and shove it in. Either make sure you cut it so it’s a very snug fit or use foam to seal round the edges so it’s all sealed

Pics will mean you get better advice.

I also wouldn't use spray foam. In my view it's a poor choice and over time can get mouldy and nasty.
