I got the keys to my new house yesterday and stripped a lot of rubbish out. I plan on building a new stud wall on the party wall in the bedroom as now I've torn the ancient fitted wardrobe out it has revealed a badly bricked up fireplace and lots of dodgy plastering.

I'm going to build a timber frame and put some Soundbloc plasterboard over it. However, I'm wondering if it needs any insulation boards in there? It's an internal adjoining wall so shouldn't be cold. There was no damp behind the old fitted wardrobe.

If you put some rockwool in there, it would increase the sound attenuation, but you're not likely to gain much from purely an insulation point of view.

All depends on how hot or cold your neighbours have the adjoining room, if they have the heating whacked up full 24/7 then no insulation is best as the heat from there side will bleed into your house if it's the other way round then insulate!

Personally I'd insulate it will improve the sound deadening and keep your heat in your house.
