This focuses on the declaration of convictions in the stupid 5 year time frame.

I have a clean driving licence and 6 yrs NCB BUT I had an offence which holds a conviction date that lapses 5 years in October (circa a month after my renewal date).

So I can get a quote to start cover in October for about £450 but if I want it to start at my renewal date at beginning of Sept, it'll cost me £LOL.

Is there nothing that takes this 1 month difference into account and recognises that it lapses so close to the start of the policy? This seems stupid that the time frames don't align with the DVLA. I also have nothing to record the actual date of conviction now since it has been removed from my license. Do I just make it up to the approximate date that I remember?!

On another note, some stupid forms ask for accidents within the last 5 years (of which I have none) but then if I declare the conviction above as being accident related, it won't let me proceed :roll eyes:

Any advice?

I guess you could buy it at £LOL and then cancel it in October for a refund, swapping to a different policy.

But getting short-term insurance would probably be easier.

I did think about short term cover but I just can't get that on this car.

I've actually managed to find a quote to start at my renewal for about 650. For the hassle it'd be to chop and change policy and taking into account admin fees and pro rata'd difference for a month's cover, I might just end up going with that - I'll keep looking though.
