Hi,

I've just bought my first car! Focus Zetec 1.6. 07 plate with about 2800miles!

my question is, if i buy insurance online will i be covered from the moment ive paid or will i have to wait for the piece of paper to come through the post before i can pick my car up?

i assume that i will be emailed something? will a printout of this count?

still looking for the best deal atm. i hate that insurance is so much for a 22 year old!

thanks

covered from the moment (normally you choose start time though, can delay it if you wish), just make sure its taxed before you pick it up

they are taxing it! off to find the best deal. so far about £600...

Jesus H... and you think thats expensive?! Dude, i'm 19, nearlly 20 with 1 years NCB and i'm still paying £1,100 on my Focus ZC..

Dude honestly thats a good quote... i'm guessing you havn't long since passed your test either.. believe me that is a good price.

Also are you buying it from a dealer? if so they will cover you for 7 days to tax it (Thats if its a Ford Direct Vehicle from a MAIN Ford dealer)

I love the fact you'll bend over and get shafted on the price of your car but then spend hours trying to save £13 on your insurance.

lol

Depreciate much

I should share with you my speadsheet working out the actual running costs of buying a 350z new... somewhat eyewatering £16k depreciation in 3 years on a 30k car before you factor in insurance, tax, servicing and fuel.

I'll always buy used as I doubt i'll ever be rich enough (or foolhardy) to do otherwise :D

If a car has no tax, and you have not got the insurance documents through yet, how do you tax it?

Would some kind of email from the insurer be enough, or have you gotta wait for the documents?

@the OP, it's instant, and if you get pulled the police give you 5 days to produce it which is enough time for the documents to come through

The issuing insurer normally sends an email and that is normally enough for them to tax the car, failing that I think they can send A fax of the cover-note

ahahahahahahaha!

HTH did you manage that?! :D

just put her back on steels and my alloys were bald. i tried to take the corner at speed but had no grip and slammed into the verge which kicked me onto my side and slid up hill to rest next to the sign for the traffic coming the other way.
