I got this mail from my insurer

'Having repaired your car, we are now casing the Third Party Insurer for the
outlay we paid. We are not accepting any liability for the accident. From
the Claim Department's point of view, your claim has now been closed.'

So will I get my NCB back? And also, I didn't get legal protection with my insurance so what can I do about claiming back the £175 excess I paid out for the repairs?

Cheers.

If they can get their costs back from the third party (which shouldn't be a problem if you are not at fault) then it should not affect your no claims and I would expect them to pay you back your excess, once the issue is settled between the insurers.

Will I see this excess again though? As I wasn't offered any legal cover nor did that cross my mind at the time...

Silly of me now :o

Legal protection has nothing to do with excess on repairs. Legal protection is basically, the insurance company providing you with a solicitor if needed.

If the third party insurer accepts 100% liability you will get your excess and NCB back.

If they accept neither, you will get neither back.

It does, it can be used to recover uninsured losses, that's what it's there for.

I don't know the current state of things as I'm left in the dark, but them(my insurer) not accepting liability is kind of a good sign yup? I was told that they never would either.

Crossed fingers the other parties insurer gives in...

So uninsured losses = excess?

It is a risk, for which you were uninsured :)

Oh well. I hope they get their cash back.

£175 means nowt to me anyway, it's all in the past. It's all about the NCB's :D
