Hi all
We had an issue about 2 weeks ago where there was a leak to our flat, National Grid was called, turned off the gas and that was all we heard. Roll on a week, National Grid turned up and they needed to put a new meter in our flat to connect us, we let them in. They accidentally drilled through a man water pipe, and water was flowing for 45 minutes before they could turn off the water. Two bedrooms and the kitchen was under water. They put us in a hotel for 4 nights.
Upon return today, a lot of my electrics (laptop, tablet, external hard drive... that I have tested so far) and a lot of my clothes that where on the floor have mould growing, I have not gone through everything yet.
However, the sub-contractors insurance came out, and said 'can you claim off your own insurance, as off us you will only get cash value'.
Surely they can't cause damage to our flat, damage personal property and only offer cash value, versus, 'new for old'/replacement? Any help on what to do?
Cheers all
