Oops - just noticed that I've made a cockup with my car insurance.

I'm currently with Direct Line, and was last year I used Tesco.

I've just got my policy details out from Direct Line for another unrelated reason and realised that I've forgotten to send them proof of no claims discount in the form of this years renewal quote from Tesco. They need the original document, which I shredded when I went on a paperwork blitz in my office. I overlooked the first page of my Direct Line policy and totally missed this request, and now I'm unsure as to what I should do.

For all they know I posted it and it was lost by RM, but I somewhat doubt that'd carry any weight with the insurance company in the event of a fault claim.

I suppose I should ask Tesco for a copy of it, but I have a feeling it might cost me...

Answered your own question. Not sure if it will cost anything, probably not much anyway. Your mistake anyway, stop being tight? :p

Just got off the phone to Testico - they're sending out a copy FOC which is nice of them.

In other news - Direct Line want an additional £132 for aftermarket alloys on my CTR.

Looks like I'll be buying some refurbs...

i just got insured with esure, i called them and said id lost my proof of ncd. they said no problem just give us the details of your previous insurer and we can sort it for you.

esure told me they only ask for proof of ncd in the event of a claim, kept my tesco proof nice and safe

Bell contacted my existing insurer on my behalf to prove my NCB entitlement rather than needing to send it it. Rather handy!

It was indeed, Prudential in fact.

Impressed with Bell actually, Welsch call centre and very helpful staff :)

Yeah, found bell very good here. Cheapest by miles for me, great service.

The only rubbish thing is the 3rd party excess really.

Just switched to the Post Office and they too don't need proof of my NCD, tho they do ask that I keep my proof safe incase I need to make a claim.
