Hi, right got a bit of a problem with insuring my the 172 I want.

Basically I did a few checks on confused etc. to see if I could get insured on the 172 at my age and my current insurer (endsleigh) was in the list @ 400 more than what i'm paying now.

Anyway come today I go to arrange temp cover as the dealer gave me a document with a code in... got to be 25. Err ok so I will just ring my current insurer who should insure me as it was on the confused quote as mentioned.

Anyway basically they also say i've got to be over 25 and find out i'm with zurich not endslegh even though I have 2 certificates of insurance stating Endsleigh.

So now i've got a problem. My current Clio which I am going to be swapping with my friend for his Hyundai Coup (as the coup is was obviously more part-ex friendly) is still currently insured by me, I get my 3rd year NCB on the 28th of November so cancelling that policy isn't an option.

Is there such a thing as short term cover or do I have to get a new policy and cancel it on the 28th of Nov? That would mean I would have policy1 still running and 2 as a temp policy until my 3rd year NCB.

However I can only use the NCB on one policy (my current one) so can't use that if I take a new policy, ok no probs I will just have to pay quite a lot for 2 months..

BUT how can my mate insure this car now as surely you can't insure a car on 2 policies plus he doesn't want to cancel his otherwise he will loser 8months worth of NCB too.

So people i'm in a mess, what are my options as I really quite like this car :)

You can however in a stolen/fire claim it wold be a 50/50 claim, if there was a crash claim it would be from who was driving insurance

My dad is insured on my car (for £100 a year!!) to keep his NCB going while in NZ!

Ok cheers. So basically I can go ahead and open a new policy and leave this one open still, while it's insured by my friend?

I've just got off the phone with them and Endsleigh is just the front name, I'm infact with Zenith or somebody, so the quote I got on confused wasn't Endsleigh but another underwriter of Endsleigh that would accept me.

But if I do a mid term transfer to this new insurer (underwirtten by endsleigh) I loose my 10months NCB which is plainly stupid as far as I can see.

So the only option I can see atm is open a new temp policy, but i can't use my 3years NCB on the new one while my other is running.
