Insurance Q - Named driver AND DOC

Was just wondering what cover I would have with regards to insurance. New car is sorted but is insured under Piggy's name with me as a named driver.

I also have my own insurance on my car and can drive other cars.

If I crash in Piggy's car, who's insurance covers it? Mine, which would be 3rd party only under DOC. Or me as named driver on Piggy's insurance which I would assume covers me FC, the same as the main driver.
 
Depends who's insurance is claimed off. You can either choose to claim it ff your own insurance, or off Piggy's.
 
I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure if you had the choice :)

Also, am I right in thinking that as a named driver, I have the same cover as the main driver? e.g. I WILL be FC.
 
I know some insurers are a bit funny about you having two polices on the same vehicle, so I would definately check with both insurers.

It's not really two policies on one vehicle though. Just that technically, I'm covered 3rd party on the other car.

Your insurer could see it that way though if you made a claim on the 3rd party cover for some reason - Beyond my level of knowledge on the subject, but I'd just phone both companies anyway to check.
 
It's only one policy though - Desmo as a NAMED driver but as he is FC on HIS car he is technically covered 3rd party on it also just as I am covered to drive any other car with 3rd party cover :)

EDIT : If he does crash the car and it's his fault we would need to claim off mine anyway because that's the only way it's covered
 
Most insurance companies limit DOC to exclude vehicles registered at the same address I think, just to stop this sort of situation arising.
