My friend, had her car a 2000 honda civic 1.6 SE auto (IG 9) insured with admiral, she then wrote her car off. Her insurance policy was suspended until she got another car. Which she did a 2000 vuaxhall corsa 1.4 CDX auto (IG 7). She phoned the insurance company gave the new car details, reg number etc.. and after paying a admin fee of £14~ her insurance policy was reinstated. When she received the new insurance certificate.. they listed the car wrong as a 1.2 instead of a 1.4. On phoning back to the insurance to corrrect that, they say she has to pay £54~ more for insuring the car.. which i argued with.. how can a 1.4 corsa insurance group 7 be more expensive to insure than a 1.6 civic which is an group 9 car???
I have argued that fact for her and they will review the initial phone call she made to give them the vauxhall corsa. She is adamant that she told them that is a 1.4 and not 1.2.
Do you guys think that I am right that she should not have to pay more? Do i/she have a leg to stand on with the insurance company?
Thanks in advance
