Hey All.

Got a simple insurance question.

As most of you know what happened a month ago I still haven't been paid out but i've been invited to a party on Saturday which is in colchester. so about half an hours drive and I really want to go to it.

Nobody can give me a lift and I cba to mess around with trains.

My question is if I get an old banger out of my dads yard that just simply will go to colchester and back even though I haven't been payed out by my insurance company, can I change my policy over to the old thing. even if its just for a week or so.

Many Thanks :)

lol that day insure seems well cheap

£21 a day to insure my car

I only use it at the weekends wonder if I'm better off insuring it on the days I actually bother to drive it :p

Probably better with dayinsurance as most insurance companies charge £20+ ever time you change details on the policy. So that would be £40 fees, just to change cars then change it back.

If it's not your car, can't you drive in under your insurance policy anyway? Check to see whether it lets you drive other people's cars (with their permission, obviously).

You wouldn't be able to use it ;)

Modifications to Vehicles

* Vehicles fitted with manufacturer specified optional extras, fitted at the time of manufacture, are acceptable.
* Vehicles modified to cater for a disabled driver or passenger are acceptable
* Vehicles that have undergone any post manufacturer 'after market fit' modification (cosmetic or performance related) are NOT ACCEPTABLE

i've checked. and unfortunately it doesn't cover it. otherwise i could have used my sisters 1.9tdi ibiza :(

i'll check out that day insure.

cheers :)

Wouldn't it be cheaper and more convenient to just pre-book a taxi there and back? You could also have a drink then as well :)

I've thought about this, but my mate said If I get smashed I can stay at his, plus I doubt i'll get hammered, so wouldn't want to pay for a taxi each way whilst sober :)

its like a 37mile drive to his house. would cost loads.

You could always ring a couple of local taxi firms and see what prices you get quoted? They generally aren't too bad in my experience as long as you pre-book and agree a price beforehand ie don't use the meter.
